Who We Serve
Who We Serve

According to The National Center for Children in Poverty more than 16 million children in the United States – 22% of all children – live in families with incomes below the federal poverty level. The National Center on Family Homelessness reports that 1 in 30 children in America experience homelessness and a recent report by the U.S. Department of Education indicated that there are nearly 3000 school-aged children identified as homeless in Southwestern PA.

Children living in poverty often go without the everyday items we take for granted. Special milestones in their lives, like birthdays, are often overlooked because of their families’ personal and financial instabilities. Research indicates that these children are at greater risks for anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. Overlooked birthdays only add to these children’s emotional and self-esteem issues. Beverly’s Birthdays enriches the lives of the children we serve by making sure they are remembered on their special day.

The majority of our agency partners are shelters/housing programs for families experiencing homelessness. We also work with group homes, residential treatment facilities, food banks and human services agencies. We have partnerships throughout Allegheny, Washington, Fayette, Greene, Butler, and Westmoreland county.
